WHAT IS PELVIC CONGESTION SYNDROME?

Pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS), also known as pelvic vein incompetence, is a condition known to show up in women based on varicose veins in the lower abdomen. Varicose veins can disrupt normal circulation of blood and may result into chronic pains, typically in a constant form, in the area.

This condition normally happens incase of pregnancy, however it may form on its own without any specific cause. Vasodilation reduces the strength of vein walls and is caused by estrogen which is known to be a hormone that is produced in everybody but in higher rate in women. This condition can also result into accumulation of blood in veins of the pelvic area and eventually form varicose veins. It is estimated that 15% of all women have varicose veins in the pelvic area.
